Executive Director
  • Terry Neven, NISAC’s Executive Director, is one of the council’s founders. NISAC began in 1996 with the assistance of three homeschool administrators and various personnel within the California Department of Education and public school administrators. Mr. Neven was involved in accreditation with a Los Angeles Unified School District high school and participated in "Focus on Learning" Self-Study Coordinator training with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. He has been involved in home schooling since 1980. He is a member of CASCWA (California Association of Supervisors of Child Welfare and Attendance) and maintains working relationships with public school officials from local, county and state departments of education. He spoke on the issue of home school at the 2009 CASCWA State Conference.
     
  • Terry Neven was involved in the 2008 California Court of Appeals case where home schooling by non-credentialed parents was declared legal for the first time in California history. Sunland Christian School, was granted special status in the case and helped provide valuable information in assisting the court in determining its ruling.
